Children's Development Center
Tlajomulco, Jalisco (2024)
The proposal is defined by twelve buildings located irregularly around a large open area. The passage that is generated between the elements serves as circulation to each of the required areas. As one enters the center, one finds a series of discontinuously arranged volumes which are recognized in three different colors according to their vocation. The green tone for the administrative and service areas such as the teachers' classrooms, family care and health rooms, the yellow tone for the three rooms that are complementary areas to the educational program: the kitchen, the library and the computer workshop, and the blue color for the physiognomic spaces that give vocation to this facility, the classrooms. These elements are intersected by two main decks, one located at the access and a second deck that generates a kind of amphitheater between the teachers' area and the classrooms. This space is designed to be able to carry out civic events and school presentations, in addition to serving as a space during student break time where they can sit and eat or play in the shade. The irregular hallway fulfills a social and functional relationship, articulating the different rooms in a playful way. This is segmented by gaps that allow the controlled entry of sunlight, as well as the presence of trees.
