Plazuela Obregon renovation
Culiacan, Sinaloa (2019)
In colaboration with Escobedo Soliz Arquitectos.
The main objective of the renovation proposal for Plazuela Obregon is to establish a harmonious integration between the urban and the natural, with a timeless design that allows this urban intervention to last over time in a dignified and functional way.
Generating a memorable tour and stay experience for people is also one of the intentions in the design, by providing different environments that allow people to connect with the vegetation and water present, live with other people, attend various activities that Be part of the plaza's programming, or simply spend some time with yourself.
One of the fundamental components of the complex is what has been called “Walkable Garden”, whose design takes up and reinterprets the square shape and original layout of the square, through 8 radial axes that converge on a circular central element. This element marks the origin of the city, where the two rivers (Humaya and Tamazula) converge, giving rise to the Culiacan River.
These three rivers are represented through sills embedded in 3 of the 8 radial axes. Water is a key element in the entire project, which appears in liquid form or in the form of fog, generating a diverse spectacle of water and light at different times of the day.
