The geographical characteristics of the national territory favored the use of hydraulic power. In this way, most of the first mechanized factories in the country were located close to the water courses that guaranteed the supply of hydraulic power, frequently far from urban centers and in many cases in pre-existing production sites from which they would take advantage of their infrastructure. . The Carmela and Carmelita Hydroelectric Plants, built between 1906-1911, made up the hydroelectric system of the El Mayorazgo factory and were exempt from the factory.

The project recognizes water as a vestige of Puebla's water-industrial past and in which this old hydroelectric plant was the protagonist. In this way, it is proposed that water accompanies the visitor's journey in an open-air museum where, based on the articulation of the built vestige by walkers, its history is told.
